In the 1st pic is Bo the Cat, our engineer, his really feeling the mix.

Actually Bo is the owner of the studio.  Ok his the owner’s cat, but he has really good taste in music!  We did have great engineer buy the name of Collin Guy though.  You can see Collins hand in the second pic. lol.

The studio we went to was (EAR) East Atlanta Recording, owned by Sean Mcpherson.  Sean will be mixing our songs when we head back too the studio in March.  You should visit EAR’s website @http://eastatlantarecording.com/about/ to learn more about Sean.

I would say the studio went pretty well.  Remember our drummer walked away a few weeks ago.  So our front man Shannon Thompson took over that responsibility in the Studio, done a great job!  It was like Old times for bassist Steven Manderson & Shannon jamming together on Bass & Drums.

Were excited for all too hear the new recordings.  So originally we planned to record 4 songs but only recorded 3 instead.  Reason was time and budget as always, but that could change.  As you read in our earlier post we are raising money for this project and rewarding all you contribute!  Since we haven’t completed the project there is still time to be apart of the vision.   Stayed tuned for a quick video from the control room.

Hitting the Studio

This weekend we will be hitting the studio to record our follow up album.  Where excited and nervous at the same time.  I think most of that nervousness comes from our drummer walking away just a few weeks ago. But I guess most bands would be even more nervous in this situation.  Because not all front man are drummers.  This is one of many things we have in our favor.  I think Shannon Thompson our front man may be the most nervous. lol As he had to whip his self in drummer shape in just a few short weeks!  Initially bassist Steven Manderson added to the anxiety as he was not so confident that Shannon could pull it off in a short amount of time.  But I guess it is just like riding a bike.  The memory is still there.  It’s getting back into that groove, with that said Shannon is feeling like a drummer again.  I guess because he is and never wasn’t.

Our hope is to record another 4 track EP but a full album maybe a possibility.  Running the numbers.  Recording just alone will run us around $500.00!  This doesn’t include mixing, mastering, duplication and packaging.  So were asking our fans to donate to the cause.  For any donations received the donor will be rewarded!  Here is what we our thinking.

1. Donate $1.00 - $1.99 = A digital download of the Album.
Note: we will probably be selling this for $2.99 when released so you can save a little.
2. Donate $2.00 - $2.99 = A digital download of the Album + Sticker
3. Donate $3.00 - $4.99 = Everything above + a 11 x 17 poster signed by the band
4. Donate $5.00 - $9.99 = Everything above + physical copy of the album signed by the band
5. Donate $10.00- $14.99 = Everything above + a one color print T-shirt
6. Donate $15.00 - $19.99 = Everything above + a multi colored T-shirt
7. Donate $ 20.00 - $24.99 = Everything above + a private concert streamed live into the comfort of your home. If you live in the Metro Atlanta area we would be open to physically play live at your house!
8. Donate $ 25.00 - $ 29.99 = Everything above + your name on the album with special thanks!
9. Donate $30.00 or more = Everything above + I don’t know? What do you think is fair?

New Album

Front Man Shannon Thompson will be playing drums on the new album.  If you know anything about Diet December’s history then you know Shannon is a drummer at his core.

And the Beat goes on>

On Jan 19th our friend and band mate Alton Jackson.  Stepped down as Diet December’s Drummer.  Alton has contributed a lot over the past year.  He has helped develop and expand our sound.  We wish Alton the best as he focuses on his personal life.  Alton leaves some big shoes to fill. Literally ;)
